Oh, hey there. You may see that I’m back in my home office now which I absolutely love. Whenever I travel, after a while I always start feeling like this. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want to nuke the land that I’m visiting. I just really love where I live, so very happy to be back home, and it’s Easter. Nom, nom, nom. So after the kids running around like crazy in the garden looking for Easter eggs, it’s time for me let off some steam.

It’s day 18 of 100 new media tools to promote New Media Europe. Spring is in the air, Easter is here, and it’s time to have a spring clean of the social media accounts the team and I manage, what do we do with them, how best to use them.

How to Analyse Your Social Media

I want to know three key things when I analyse all the social media accounts that we’ve got. Number one, are they active? Are we posting stuff on those social media accounts? Should we be doing that? I hear time and time again that Pinterest is a treasure trove of traffic, yet I’m doing nothing with it. I need to find a strategy and delegate that to our team for our Pinterest accounts. I am sad to say that I’m one of the least active people on Pinterest. What about you? Do you use Pinterest? Is is a really good source of traffic for you? Does it help promote your business? Snap me back if you’re watching this on Snapchat and let me know.

Number two, who’s following each social media account, and are they a relevant audience? Should be targeting anyone else? I use a tool called Audiense with an S to find out things like gender split, bio keywords, and other things of importance.

What Content is Already Working?

Finally, number three, and it’s very important, what content is already blowing up and doing well on your social media accounts? Look at analytics. For instance, Andrea, our fantastic social media manager for Music Radio Creative, has pointed out that audio production tutorials do extremely well to the MRC audience. On New Media Europe, it is quotes, quotes with pictures that do well. Emerson quotes, Einstein quotes, Tim Ferriss quotes, you name it, they do well.

Social Media Marketing Strategy Recap

To recap: One, have you set up a social media account, maybe Google Plus, and you’re ignoring it, two, who’s the audience you’re targeting, and three, what does well already on your social media. Remember the answer to these questions are going to be different for every single person, and every single business. Let me know how you get on.

Did you watch this story all the way to the end? If you did, congratulations my friend. Snap me back and let me know you made it here.
