Day 27 of 100 new media tools to promote New Media Europe. New Media Europe is a real life live conference for bloggers podcasters, vloggers, entrepreneurs, marketers and social media managers. You can check it out at newmediaeurope.com it’s happening in London. Let’s focus on visuals. More to the point let’s focus on the videos the speakers at our conference have produced for us that are all over YouTube and Facebook. I want to give huge shout out to Mike Stelzner organsier of Social Media Marketing World, April 17, 18 and 19 in San Diego. Gave Izabela and I some great advice when we were getting started.
Focus on Event Speakers
Focus on your event speakers. They are the best asset you have. Get ready to screenshot the next snap if you want to connect with Mike Stelzner. You can go to socialmediaexaminer.com or screenshot next for a snapcode.
Get Videos from Your Speakers
Okay so down to business. On day 25 of my 100 day journey, I was demonstrating how to use YouTube video adds. That was to promote these snap stories to the audience watching on YouTube. Today it’s all about Facebook video ads. This time the focus is on the New Media Europe speakers.
Look at all these awesome videos our speakers have produced for us.
Facebook Gives Low Organic Reach for Pages
The thing is when we are talking free, Facebook really doesn’t show those videos to anyone. We need to pay to get the word of our great speakers out there. Today my team and I will be setting up Facebook video ads for all 20 speaker videos that we have so far. I’ll show you how I’ll do just one of those ads.
How to Make Facebook Video Ads
Go to business.facebook.com and click Power Editor. We want to create a campaign the objective is to boost page post engagement. Ad Set and Ad should be named exactly the same. Next you want to edit the Ad Set daily budget default to £11 audience this is great. Re targeting newmediaeurope.com visits in the last day. 200 people on Facebook did that. Then I’m going to drill down to location. Obviously UK is handy but the rest of Europe would also be extremely helpful. Pop those those locations in too. Skipping on towards placement, I have not played within Instagram yet so I’m going to untick that. I don’t like the desktop right column. Desktop doesn’t seem to get many clicks.
Focus on Mobile Video
I’m focusing on mobile. Well that’s why you are watching this story now, right? It gets the most interaction on Facebook. Hands down.
Creating a Video Ad on Facebook
Now the campaign is done. We go into create the Ad. Choose a page, that will be New Media Europe then you find a post. Scroll down through the recent posts until we find the Steve Folland video. There it is. That is how one of our speaker videos is going to look in the mobile news feed once this ad goes live. Happy with everything click review changes and send it to go live on Facebook.
What are you Doing with Facebook Video?
To recap today my team and I are creating Facebook video ads specifically for our speaker videos where the speakers introduce themselves and talk about their sessions. We get hundreds of visitors everyday hitting the registration page for New Media Europe but not all of those visitors register. We need to remind them of our great speakers. That’s why all of these Facebook video ads will be retargeted at people who have previously visited the newmediaeurope.com site but not registered. That’s it. That’s all I got for you today. If you are watching on Snapchat, snap me back and let me know how you get on with Facebook ads. Do you use them? Are they effective?
