The world of podcasting is coming to the UK! Over the weekend alone we have had nearly 100 sign ups to our email updates. These weren’t just normal sign ups to any old email list – people were actually reaching out to me and asking – how can I get involved?
The good news is there is plenty to be done in order to make this community beneficial to all UK podcasters.
Building An Online Community
Now the community has a home and interest has been established it’s time to take action! Here are some of the ways that you can help to make this the biggest and best gathering of podcasters in the UK.
A First Meetup Event
29th March 2014 – London
The date is set and London will be the location for our first meetup.
If you’d like to be a part of UK podcasting history then book your ticket now. The cover charge is simply to ensure your commitment and provide a tip to the servers at our chosen venue (TBC once we have some firm numbers in place). It will be an easily accessible venue in central London.
We plan to make this a remarkable event and in order to do that we’ll need some event sponsors. If you have a UK podcast you’d like to promote or you provide a service that would benefit podcasters then please consider buying a sponsorship ticket.
Places To Talk Online
When we’re not meeting up in person we’ll need places to talk and share ideas online. The best platform for this (that most podcasters seem to use) would appear to be Facebook. As Facebook is a part of most people’s daily online routine and you can set Facebook Groups to notify you of new activity in the group this seems to be the best solution.
Facebook Group
I encourage you to join this UK Podcasters Facebook group and contribute in some way by asking a question or providing a podcasting tip. To keep our online discussion area high quality and spam free we’ll need a number of moderators. If this would appeal to you let me know.
Helpful Content
Have you got something to say? Perhaps you can tell the UK podcasting community a little bit about your podcast studio and equipment, your experience of podcasting, the podcast you listen to or simply a funny podcasting story. Whatever it is – if it’s podcasting related – I’d love to have you write a guest post for UK Podcasters.
Podcast Guests
We’re all looking for high quality content and interviews for our podcasts. This is where the UK podcast community can help each other out. Let’s work out a way to exchange interviews or make ourselves available to be interviewed on our own specialist topics.
Social Media
We need a presence on all the social networks. Feel free to follow your favourites:
If you love Twitter (and what podcaster doesn’t?) you can help by tweeting this article out with the hashtag #ukpodcasters

Community Evangelists
We need a strong team of like minded UK podcasters in order for this community to grow and succeed. Izabela and I can’t do this alone. We need your help!
If you feel you can help with any of the ideas mentioned here please reach out to us or leave a comment on this post.
