The era of content driven marketing as we know it is on it’s way out. If we don’t act right now, we risk loosing customers, followers and of course business as a result. So with everyone talking about the importance of content marketing, how this is the biggest investment we can do. Why am I making a statement that it is the thing of yesterday? Allow me to explain…

Paid Reach

Algorithms are changing almost daily. It is near impossible to reach all of your followers or likers organically. That is a fact! Facebook did say not so long ago that for every person launching the feed there are over 1600 possible stories to show (on average). How do we make sure to make it there at all?

Weak content clearly wastes money. Unfortunately there is too much of it around. We constantly get bombarded with stories that are not relevant. Stories that are in fact pieces of content that have been boosted for us to see it. Weak content not only wastes money but also irritates people. Why would you pay to irritate people?

I have recently covered an article on social media trends. You will see how social platform messenger apps are on the rise. Sadly with all of this in mind, more reach no longer equals more sales. People are interested in quality and the fact that they “see” something does not guarantee you as a business owner a success!

What is Social Success?

With all of this in mind, what is social success in todays world? How do we grow our social media presence and how do we best set ourselves on the right track for a bright future?

Influencers

Influencers often have more power to sway opinions than you do with your brand statement. Look for people in your niche who are a great compliment with your business and who influence opinions of people who are potential clients for you. It is no longer what YOU say, it is what others say about you!

Advocates

Do not confuse advocates with influencers. Advocates are the true fans of your business. Those people who will happily recommend and share everything you do with their audiences, their family and friends. Make sure you look after those true fans, they are hard to come by but their opinion now matters more than ever before!

Be Authentic

More important now than ever. In order to stand out in the world today you have to be unique. And in order to be unique you have no choice but to be you. Authenticity is not something you can automate, not something you can fake. People recognise and interact with authentic stories. In order to be successful online you have to invest time in that one thing that ironically comes hardest to us all online.
