Podcaster’s problem: When you record your podcast your guest may be a heavy breather, there may be a fan or air conditioning unit in the background – there is a way to remove that noise from your podcast!

You may wish to set a noise gate on your podcast to eliminate breaths or a light background noise. A noise gate should be used lightly otherwise you’ll end up clipping the start and end of your words and it is not a replacement to noise reduction which I’ll cover later.

1. Go to Effects > Amplitude And Compression > Dynamics Processing.

2. Start from a preset such as Noise Gate @ 20dB.

3. Move the bottom right point of the graph to the left until you have reduced background noise but are not clipping the start and ends of your words.
