Putting his podcast on hiatus
Mark started his podcast Excellence Expected in 2014 with the idea of people asking him all sorts of small business questions. After doing 150 episodes, he realized that he was just competing in such a very busy space of entrepreneur podcasts, so he decided to put the podcast on hiatus. He is working on another podcast series that focuses on more specific topics and will resemble mini courses. According to Mark, podcasting should never feel like a job.
Quitting his job to become an entrepreneur
Mark had a corporate job for several years yet he never found fulfillment in his job. He started accepting IT projects and just continued for several years. Mark likes trying out a lot of things and he thinks that there’s very little consequence now to try something because of the number of new media tools available.
We also talked about what drives people to do what the do – nature or nurture? What makes people have that entrepreneurial spirit? How to deal with and get back from entrepreneurial mistakes? What does success look like?
