How do we get things done? Is it easy to keep track of our goals and aspirations? The future is in your hands. If you ever need to blame anyone. It always comes down to you. Here is how to manage “YOU”.

Focus on what matters

It is so easy to get overwhelmed with the scale of the project, with how much is still to be done and how far away we are from the final destination. You have to keep things in perspective. Rome was not built in one day and you have to accept that things take time. You need to keep an eye out on the next step, not necessarily on the final goal. I find this helps me with getting through difficult stages of my projects.

Plan it out

I know you probably heard this over and over again. But planning and writing things down does matter. I often find that it calms me down. I am a little bit of a control freak and I need to know where everyone is at any point and what is the next step. By having a detailed plan I know at any given point where things should be.

Prepare for the worst

This has been my motto ever since leaving school. Life has not always been easy and I quickly learned that by preparing for the worst case scenario I can’t fail. It is my superpower. With anything I do I simply imagine the worst possible scenario and plan for it. I know this may sound horrid to you. But the truth is it works! If you do that, there is no possibility for you to fail. You get the best perspective and are able to approach things calmly. My life motto is: prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

Perspective matters

All along the way try to have more than one perspective. Your worst enemy is YOU! It is your head that is in charge of your feelings, your moods, your approaches and your perspective. Always question yourself. Look for perspective you have not thought of before.
